German carmaker BMW has collaborated with Solarwatt to offer integrated rooftop and carport photovoltaic charging systems for BMW i customers.
Under the collaboration, the Solarwatt Carport System will offer the BMW i3 and BMW i8 customers a newly designed solar-based electric vehicle charging and household microgeneration system which uses the glass-glass modules.
BMW i has already partnered with Naturstrom, Schneider Electric and The Mobility House, under the 360° Electric program to provide convenient charging option to customers by the launch date.
360° Electric project head Marcus Krieg said, "This is the next step in the BMW i 360-degree package for customer-friendly electric mobility."
The company expects the partnerships to support it in meeting the goal of providing the charging options for the BMW i3 and BMW i8 customers by the launch date.
BMW i3 is scheduled to be launched in the market by late 2013 and will be the first electric vehicle that has been designed for electric mobility from the outset.
